A few days before this meeting was due to be held, Round 1 of the Season, the scarcely credible news gradually filtered out that Mike March had suddenly passed away. The RHPK Community was stunned when this was confirmed and the dreadful reality finally struck home that Mike would no longer be racing with us. Mike had been at the heart of the action, first in the Senna Cup and then "graduating" to Owner/Driver Endurance at RHPK and other epic races in the UK and abroad. More than that, he was a quiet but imposing personality in the clubhouse and paddock, universally liked and respected, always generous with his help and time, and a notable dispenser of oil on troubled waters when the inevitable squalls arose. He was looking forward so much to the new Season at RHPK, racing with his team, relaying cunning strategy and tactics on the comms, and revelling in the life of the paddock -- poignantly he had sponsored the barbecue for that day. The RHPK Community came together to pay tributes to Mike in words and action, privately, quietly, as well as publicly and reverentially as befits the loss of a great man from a great Club.
